Former Tarlac Governor Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco is running under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).

She filed her certificate of candidacy on October 1, 2012 after being asked to run for a Senate post by Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Her platform focuses on farmers’ welfare.

The 68-year-old registered voter of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao is also a reserve Army colonel.

She completed her Masters degree in National Security Administration at the National Defense College of the Philippines .

Cojuangco also holds three doctorate degrees in Philippine History, Criminology, and Anthropology at the University of Sto . Tomas, the Philippine College of Criminology, and the University of the Philippines, respectively.

The former model also writes a fashion and beauty column for the Philippine Star’s Lifestyle Section.

Cojuangco is the aunt of President Benigno Aquino III.

She is the wife of UNA vice-president Peping Cojuangco, who is also the president of the Philippine Olympic Committee. They have five children.
